How much electricity does an MVHR system consume?

The electricity consumption of a punctual MVHR unit is very low and comparable to that of an LED light bulb. All Helty Flow systems for residential use are rated energy class A and help reduce energy consumption thanks to their highly efficient heat recovery performance.

Helty mechanical ventilation systems fully comply with the energy requirements set out by the European ErP Directive – Energy-related Products – and are rated energy class A.

The energy consumption of a wall-mounted punctual MVHR unit, such as Helty FlowEASY, is comparable to that of an LED light bulb and is therefore extremely low.

Power consumption ranges from 3.6 watts at the first air renewal speed to 20 watts in hyperventilation mode.

Assuming that the MVHR unit operates continuously, with an average power consumption of 6 watts per hour – corresponding to variable air flow rates between the second and third speed settings – daily energy consumption can be estimated at 144 Wh. This means that, even at current energy prices, keeping a Helty MVHR unit running continuously costs just over 5 euro cents per day.

The overall energy balance should also take into account the savings in heating energy made possible by MVHR, thanks to the reduction in heat losses caused by opening windows. These savings are even more significant in areas with colder winter climates.

This is made possible by a high-performance heat exchanger, which recovers up to 91% of the heat from the extracted indoor air and uses it to warm the fresh air drawn in from outside.
