Do Helty Flow MVHRs need a condensate drain?
It depends on the model and version. Helty MVHR units with an enthalpy heat exchanger do not require a condensate drain. Versions with a sensible heat exchanger introduced from March 2026, however, require provision for condensate drainage.
It depends on the model and the type of heat exchanger fitted in the MVHR unit.
Helty MVHR units equipped with an enthalpy heat exchanger do not require a condensate drain. This type of heat exchanger enables partial recovery of the moisture contained in the air, significantly reducing the formation of condensate inside the unit.
Helty versions with a sensible heat exchanger, introduced from March 2026, operate according to a different principle. They recover sensible heat only and may therefore generate condensate, particularly during winter operation. In these cases, provision must be made for a condensate drain connected to the building’s drainage system.
When selecting the most suitable MVHR model, it is therefore always important to assess the climatic conditions and the application context – residential, commercial or renovation.
Certified quality and performance
